My First Mini Figure Sculpture

So here is my first attempt at a mini figure.  Yeah, still learning. I also painted my She-It creature. Stay tuned for lots more attempts at sculpting characters much tinier than I ever have before. I sold the rest of my larger sculptures at HorrorHound Weekend a few days ago (See prior posts) and plan to sculpt at a smaller level until I feel I've at least gotten the hang of it.

This guy is 2 inches tall and was sculpted with Original Sculpy.  He is very rough, but I can only improve from here, right?

She-It is just under 4 inches.

I definitely feel my paint job has given her much character she didn't have a few posts back.

I'm a looooong way from where I want to be, but I feel I could be off to a good start. Thanks for looking.

It Conquered the World with Krampus!

Alright, here are the last two bigger sculptures I'll be selling at HorrorHound Weekend.  If anyone is interested please feel free to email me about arrangements for picking them up at HorrorHound.  If anyone would like to secure payment in advance, I do accept Paypal.  Both sculptures are created with polymer clay and a few other things and painted with acrylics. Selling Sculptures at HorrorHound Weekend

Hey all, some of you know that my band Harley Poe will be playing HorrorHound Weekend in Cincinnati, OH, just days from now on the 23rd.  My good buddy and drummer Cristian Riquleme recommended that I bring some of my sculptures to sell since we'll have a free booth for the weekend, so I've selected four creations that I would have attempted to sell online if it weren't for the fragility of each piece. These four sculptures were created using polymer clay with either withered branches or flowers, or random metal parts, or both. They were painted with acrylics and are meant for display high above where children and accident-prone friends can't reach them. The Scandalmongers

Let's take a break from my OMFG obsession for just a minute and talk about a band from Indiana called The Scandalmongers.  The front man for this group, Reid Chancellor, has been writing me for quite a few years now. In a strange way (and as silly as it sounds), I feel like I've sort of watched this kid grow up over the years.  I used to watch YouTube videos of him and his friends dicking around in front of the camera making silly skits. Their amateur productions made me smile.

Last month Reid got a hold of me to illustrate the cover for The Scandalmongers' second CD release called Uglies. He linked me to some of their songs and sent me a copy of their first album Child Songs. I have to admit, this isn't music to which I normally listen or even care for, but I couldn't ignore the catchy melodies and powerful vocals. There are a number of songs on their first album that I found myself playing over and over again. I was looking forward to illustrating the cover for their new album, but more than that I really just wanted to hear how much the band could possibly improve from their first album.

Well the new CD arrived a week or two ago with my artwork on the cover and seven rockin' songs with better production value than the first album. The songs are also a little heavier and faster this time around.  The band has tightened up and Reid's vocals are golden. It's safe to say I really enjoy the new CD.  I honestly think, if delivered to the right people, these guys have potential to really go somewhere. The music is catchy and very radio friendly. Reid's lyrics deal with love, religion, growing up, anxiety, and other issues in which every human being can relate. These kids are talented musicians and I can't stress enough how impressed I am with Reid's voice.  To be honest, my only minor disappointment with the new album is that their first release had a good number of songs that slowed down and got quiet enough to really highlight Reid's singing, while the new one doesn't take as much time to do that.  Still, great work guys. I've been listening to it since it arrived.

OMFG Series 4 Submission

So I noticed on the OMFG boards that finished sculpts get a lot more attention than illustrations or concepts. Designs that may have been overlooked before are suddenly must-have mini figures as soon as they are shown that they can be scuplted. A finished palpable figure is what a lot of voters need in order to be interested in what you have to offer.  Then again, I may have no clue what I'm talking about, which is mostly the case.

Either way, I've been wanting to learn how to sculpt my own mini figures for awhile now, regardless of acceptance by this little toy/art community (as important it is to me).  This is Eyeleen, but I've been calling her She-It, as in "Sheit, man, what the fuck is that?!?" She's a couple inches bigger than a mini figure, but I'll get more accurate.  I wasn't quite ready to go that small yet.  I don't think I have the right kind of tools or clay. But I am getting better. Tell me what you think if you have a moment to kill.

OMFG Series 4 Submission

Someone on the boards suggested I make Sexy T. Rexy into a female.  Here's the first sketch. Going to get some more feedback before I finish her. I know she needs some work.
